These proceedings capture the content of the presentations made at the workshop as well as an overview of the debate that emerged around the key themes, questions, issues and challenges relating to the role and impact of cloud computing on e-Infrastructures for science and research.

This document outlines the organisation and the results of this e-InfraNet workshop dedicated to Green ICT and environmental computing (27th & 28th of October 2010). This workshop was the first of a series of workshops focussing on each of the topic areas identified in the e-InfraNet description of work – Green ICT, Cloud Computing, Openness.

The purpose of the Scoping Dimension Workshop was to facilitate communication and develop better reciprocal knowledge among project representatives on the subject of countries current e-Infrastructure strategy and e-Infrastructure initiatives. Presentations outlined the opportunities and challenges for international cooperation on a policy level.

The main objective of Work Package 1 (WP1) is to gain an overview of relevant e-Infrastructure programmes on a national and regional level. WP1, with its inventory work, kicks off the other work packages and activities in the project, and supports them with ongoing information gathering and exchange.
One of the activities within WP1 is the development of a questionnaire to gather the required information on current e-Infrastructure initiatives. The deliverable Overview of the National Programmes in Europe-General Survey available on the ‘Outputs’ section of this website presents the first results of the questionnaire. This document will be updated as additional questionnaire responses are received from new partner countries.
